As the Senior Manager of Communications for Commercial Strategy & Innovation (CSI) at McKesson, you will lead a team and support the execution of internal and external communications for multiple business units and leaders. Your role is to seamlessly integrate business priorities into the overarching corporate narrative, managing the tone, positioning, and storytelling to align with McKesson's broader vision.

In this role, you will spearhead all CSI communication efforts, positioning subject matter experts as thought leaders while ensuring employees are well-informed about the business strategy and direction. You will play a pivotal role in reinforcing CSI's culture and values through consistent and impactful communication across the organization. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with leaders to develop and strategize communication initiatives, driving engagement and clarity for internal and external audiences.

You will be responsible for crafting and executing compelling communication strategies across digital and traditional platforms. You will develop and refine messaging with a keen eye for detail, leveraging strong writing and copy-editing skills to ensure clarity and consistency. Your role involves seamlessly integrating communications across various channels, expertly managing projects and people, and employing creative problem-solving to meet the organization's needs.

Collaboration is key, as you will work across the organization to make informed, real-time decisions aligned with ICARE and ILEAD principles. Maintaining extreme attention to detail is critical in delivering impactful communications.

Within the CSI Strategic Marketing team, you will be a trusted business partner. You will coordinate with internal stakeholders, craft targeted messaging, and support initiatives that shape employee and customer perceptions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a strategic communications expert, crafting and implementing holistic communication strategies that drive business objectives, strengthen brand reputation, and ensure consistent, impactful messaging across all platforms.

  • Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive communications strategy for CSI and its BUs that effectively tells the organization's story. This strategy should include strategic planning, content creation, and seamless messaging delivery across all internal and external channels to engage stakeholders and enhance brand visibility.

  • Develop and manage executive communications for CSI leaders to enhance brand visibility for audiences and channels (presentations, executive emails, speeches, videos, talking points, etc.)

  • Develop and execute CSI's internal communication strategy to ensure that employees are well-informed, engaged, and aligned with the organization's mission, values, and strategic direction

  • Oversee and develop the execution of thought leadership content, including articles, blog posts, event support, and speech writing, to position CSI and its leaders as industry experts

  • Develop and oversee a variety of communications material intended for a range of audiences and channels (presentations, executive emails, speeches, videos, talking points, etc.)

  • Implement metrics to assess the effectiveness of communications strategies, using data-driven insights to optimize content and delivery methods

  • Strategize and execution of thoughtful content for internal and external events

  • Deliver customer-facing communications across various formats, such as quarterly reports, blogs, and stories, to drive awareness, elevate CSI's & BUs market presence, and reinforce the business unit's value proposition

  • Demonstrate executive presence and a deep understanding of complex concepts, with the ability to communicate them clearly and concisely to diverse audiences

  • Create and enhance executive presence in the social media landscape, capturing and conveying the executive's voice to effectively engage target audiences

  • Design and implement strategies and programs that communicate business objectives, culture, and values to employees, fostering a unified and motivated workforce

  • Exhibit exceptional project management skills, consistently meeting tight deadlines while delivering high-quality communication initiatives

  • Capture and reflect the voice of the customer in positioning, messaging, and content creation, ensuring communications resonate with the target audience

  • Implement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication plans, using data-driven insights to continuously improve customer engagement and refine communication strategies

  • Manage a team of two marketing specialists who support communication across multiple business units and customer segments

  • Lead and mentor a team to achieve excellence in all their initiatives through strategic guidance, professional development, and effective communication

  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure communications are meeting their needs and expectations to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment across the organization

  • Overseeing the coordination of all communication needs across the enterprise to ensure alignment and leverage appropriately

  • Manage special projects and flex when needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience.

Education

4-year degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, English, or relevant field

Critical Skills

  • 9+ years of internal or executive communications, or related experience

  • Marketo or Staffbase experience preferred

  • Healthcare experience preferred

  • Management experience preferred

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, in storytelling and creating communication materials for both digital and traditional channels

  • Ability to multitask and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced marketing environment, constantly striving for excellence

  • Ability to forge relationships, problem-solve, and negotiate solutions among competing interests

  • Excellent management skills: ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers

  • Experience providing design guidance/recommendations for presentations and other communication materials

  • Knowledge and understanding of the healthcare industry

  • Excellent executive presence and interpersonal skills

  • Strong project management skills

Working Conditions

Office: Some travel may be required up to 20%

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. $99,400 - $165,600
