University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Department: Biomedical Informatics Job Title: Part-time Research Services Information Sciences Entry Professional (0.45 FTE) Position #:00841150 - Requisition #:38078
Job Summary: |
We are looking for a coding enthusiast to join the JRaviLab as a Part-time Information Sciences Professional. In our group, we develop/apply computational approaches to analyze and visualize multiscale biological data to study microbial phenotypes and diseases, including genomes, protein sequence-structural features, transcriptomes, and pathway memberships. This position is expected to contribute most of the code that goes into our analytical pipelines (that utilize high-performance clusters and cloud infrastructure) and production-ready webservers. They are expected to maintain high standards for code documentation, clarity, efficiency, and maintainability. In addition to maintaining these standards in their own code, they should set high expectations for other lab members and share their expertise to improve the code that all members of the lab are writing. Key Responsibilities:
Develop new computational approaches to analyze and integrate large collections of biological data (including genomics, transcriptomics, pathway/process, drug data). Build machine learning models to associate microbial genotypes to phenotypes. Create gene expression signatures for all infectious diseases and discern disease-specific signatures. Maintain interpretable, reproducible, and well-documented codebases on GitHub that can be converted into R/Py packages and can serve as the backend of user-friendly web-apps. Work with PI on generating preliminary data for grant proposals; and with graduate students and postdocs for the dissemination of research via publications and presentations.
