Technical Support Specialist About the Role

We're seeking a Technical Support Specialist to provide frontline IT support in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. This role combines hands-on troubleshooting, system maintenance, and customer service for both faculty and professional users.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver technical support for Windows and macOS systems, ensuring fast, accurate issue resolution.

  • Diagnose and repair hardware, software, and connectivity problems across desktops, laptops, and peripherals.

  • Maintain and update classroom or conference technology, performing firmware, OS, and software updates.

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for escalated Help Desk incidents.

  • Manage asset inventory and assist in equipment procurement and setup.

  • Support data backup and recovery processes to protect organizational information.

  • Assist with system migrations, new equipment rollouts, and other infrastructure projects.

  • Participate in after-hours or remote support on a rotational basis as needed.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent hands-on experience.

  • 3-5 years in an IT support role serving a large user base (academic, enterprise, or similar environment).

  • Proficiency with Windows 10/11 and macOS operating systems, imaging, and patch management.

  • Strong understanding of hardware components, networking basics (TCP/IP, subnets, connectivity).

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and maintain professionalism under pressure.

  • Self-starter with strong follow-through and a collaborative mindset.

  • Nice to have: experience supporting AV systems, classroom technology, or hybrid learning environments.


Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
