Job Summary


The Department of Medicine (DOM) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) is seeking an Administrative Operations Coordinator to serve as the primary administrative coordinator for our dynamic academic medical environment. As the largest department at ZSFG and the second largest in the UCSF School of Medicine, ZSFG DOM supports an extensive network of faculty, residents, medical students, and subspecialty services across 14 medicine divisions.

This role serves as the central liaison and "hub" for all operational coordination between inpatient medical teams, consult services, and academic programs. The Administrative Operations Coordinator ensures seamless integration of trainees and faculty into our systems by managing complex scheduling, orientation processes, and access coordination. Working collaboratively with the Clinical Operations Manager, Residency Site Director, and Medical Clerkship Director, this position is essential to maintaining the high standards of our academic mission while ensuring all administrative systems function efficiently.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities in a fast-paced academic medical setting. This role requires someone who thrives on coordination, communication, and providing excellent customer service to our diverse community of medical professionals and trainees.

Department Description

Since 1864, the UCSF School of Medicine and Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG) have worked in close collaboration to provide healthcare services for the people of San Francisco, under the umbrella of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. The Department of Medicine is the largest department at Zuckerberg San Francisco General with an annual budget of over $205 million. The Department is divided into 13 Divisions and 5 Centers made up of approximately 200 faculty and 685 staff and trainees.

Required Qualifications


  • BS/BA degree with a major in a related field and one year of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Outlook - Intermediate Level
  • Excellent organization skills, ability to multitask in an environment with frequent interruptions, and to re-prioritize tasks as needed to meet hard timelines
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in an academic and clinical setting. Ability to communicate effectively with people from a variety of professional and academic backgrounds
  • Strong customer service orientation

Preferred Qualifications


  • Familiar with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) documentation guidelines
  • Knowledge of billing requirements associated with professional billing and EPIC system
  • Prior experience in an academic setting
  • Familiarity with UCSF/DPH processes and procedures
  • Experience with Qgenda, Lightning Bolt, AMION, and Med Hub
