Location:Remote - Please note this job cannot be performed in Washington State. Hiring Range:This position's hiring range is anticipated to be $60,000 to $70,000 annually, depending on experience, plus great benefits! Interviews will occur weekly until the position is filled. Position Summary: A National Events Specialist brings event planning and event marketing experience and expertise to the Best Friends national events team and helps to develop and manage a variety of events (in-person, virtual and hybrid) that are geared towards promoting Best Friends brand and mission and driving engagement with the Best Friends Network, supporters, staff and the general public. This position will specialize on lifesaving and brand events such as Super Adoption where we create a fun, festival like experience promoting adoption. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

You are responsible and accountable for the culture you add to your team dynamic. Plan and execute events and portions of events within the National Eventsteam umbrella of events, working closely with teams across the organization to program events that attract target audiences and support the strategic priorities of the organization, division and department. Support the national event strategy including but not limited to event logistics, virtual and live event production, venue contracting and management, travel coordination, shipping, food and beverage management, and branding while developing and enhancing event templates. Build and maintain relationships with event attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, speakers and vendors, serving as the point of contact and maintaining accurate records. Train and efficiently manage event volunteers. Negotiate contracts for all programs including entertainment, speakers, vendors, venues and logistics providers. Collaborate with internal teams to plan and produce all event related marketing and communications. Maintain and monitor an overall event budget. Compile event results in a timely manner and assure that any revenue or donations associated with events are collected, protected, and processed.
Skills and Experience:
4+ years of event planning experience, ideally festivals and experiential events. Meticulous and organized in completing tasks. Resourceful, get-it-done attitude; initiative to assist in any area or process; problem solving, seeking answers independently and enthusiastically; flexibility to persist until goals are achieved. Hospitality focused with strong interpersonal skills, a team player, personable, professional, and able to get along with people from different backgrounds, as well as the ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with well-developed organization skills to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. Tech savvy with high proficiency in Microsoft Office products required with a preference to have experience working in Cvent, Basecamp, Asana and various virtual event platforms including but not limited to Swapcard, Airmeet, and Zoom.
Physical Requirements:
Lift 40 pounds and perform occasional strenuous activity including, but not limited to lifting, carrying, reaching, stooping, squatting, cleaning, and bending. Work at a computer for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, sitting, arm, and hand motion. Work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. Ability to travel, including overnight stays, when needed. Flexibility to work odd days and hours as needed for events and promotions. May include weekends, nights, and holiday work. Considerations will be made for appropriate work-life balance.
