Summary

Responsible for scheduling and verifying the completion of assigned tasks for assigned Facilities Technicians and outside contractors.

Number of Direct Reports (include titles): 7 Technicians (2 plumbers, 2 electricians, 2 general workers, and 1 general maintenance tech)

Number of Indirect Reports (include titles): Various outside contractors hired as needed

Pay Range: $56,784 -$64,168 (depending on qualifications and experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Hire, supervise, train, and complete performance evaluations for assigned technicians.

  • Manage workflow to ensure timely and accurate completion of all work order requests.

  • Periodically inspect technicians' work upon assignment completion and make corrections as needed.

  • Act as subject matter expert with the ability to bring in outside contractors/experts as needed.

  • Schedule time off and approve vacation as needed.

  • Manage tools and supplies necessary for completion of work order requests.

  • Responsible for managing costs, approving invoices, and staying within associated budget.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

  • 5 years' experience in facilities management

  • 1 year of supervisory experience

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • 6-10 years experience in facilities management

  • 3 years of supervisory experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the equipment and systems in the City's buildings including methods, processes and procedures to repair and/or replace those systems and equipment.

  • Skill to operate required equipment and tools

  • Ability to organize materials, equipment and subordinates in the completion of assigned jobs

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  • Ability to clearly and concisely deliver instructions

  • Ability to develop professional working relationships with subordinates and City employees

  • Ability to perform basic computer functions using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, and a work order management software called Maintenance Connection

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Class C Texas driver's license

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent works with occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work. Incumbent is subject to extreme temperatures, weather conditions, noise, electrical and mechanical hazards. Physical tasks will include lifting, squatting, bending, stooping, walking, and carrying supplies, as needed.
