TSC is seeking a skilled and experienced NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineering Manager to lead the transition of products from development to serial production. This role is critical in bridging R&D, production, and supply chain functions to ensure a smooth, high-quality, and cost-effective product launch process. You'll be responsible for overseeing the transition of products from the design phase to full-scale manufacturing. Key Responsibilities
- Lead NPI transition processes from development to production, ensuring successful integration of new products into manufacturing lines.
- Develop, document, and optimize manufacturing processes, including creating work instructions, technical specifications, and test procedures (ATPs).
- Create and manage production documentation: BOMs, part numbers, work instructions, configuration control, and revision management.
- Review of engineering documentation during development to identify DFMA opportunities.
- Collaborate with the product owner to define, prioritize, and manage all ECOs
- Collaboratively Oversee and implement engineering changes (ECOs) across the product lifecycle, driving continuous improvement in production workflows.
- Collaborate closely with Program Management, R&D Engineering, Production, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to ensure production readiness (PRR) and product reliability.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in production and provide hands-on support to the Operations Integration team.
- Lead quality assurance activities, including root cause analysis, MRB, RMA handling, and CAPA processes.
- Analyze manufacturing processes for cost reduction and performance optimization.
- Coordinate with external suppliers, manufacturers, and subcontractors to maintain high standards of quality and efficiency.
- Develop technical product transition plans addressing the electrical, mechanical, software, and test requirements
- Coordinate with product management, engineering, and production to define and execute product transition within the technical scope and budget
- Support all phases of product development to influence design decisions to better prepare for manufacturing
- Be primary interface for production team to address materials, producibility, assembly, testing, failure analysis, and other manufacturing issues that arise throughout the product life cycle
- Guide system test organization to define product level tests and equipment in support of production
- Work within a multi-discipline team of systems, hardware, mechanical, software, and firmware engineers to build complete solutions and products
- Lead by example in creating and executing NPI processes and methodologies
- Work with product owners to define technical roadmaps and corresponding manufacturing requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, or other related Engineering disciplines.
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in leading a similar NPI or manufacturing engineering role, ideally involving multidisciplinary, complex systems.
- US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- Proven experience leading NPI processes from R&D through production.
- Solid understanding of details of each product lifecycle, including SRR, PDR, CDR, PRR etc.
- Hands-on experience with ERP (Costpoint), MES (Aegis Factory Logix) and PLM (Teamcenter) systems; ability to lead PDM/PLM and MES implementations.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary systems (e.g., fiber optics, optical components, complex PCBAs, mechanical assemblies, electrical cabling).
- Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and hands-on assembly skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and in cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and ability to perform hands-on troubleshooting, especially with electronic components and systems.
Preferred Qualification:
- Electrical circuit design and fabrication, or mechanical design and fabrication for electronics
- Successfully leading multiple product transition projects from concept to full rate production.
- AS9100 or ISO9001
- Demonstrated technical leadership and subject matter expertise
- Possess excellent organizational and communications skills
- Able to prioritize work and maximize productivity
- Experience with radar, SIGINT, and/or electronic warfare product development
- Experience with custom electronics and custom mechanical packaging
- Experience leading high-volume electronic production
- Experience leading development and improvement of engineering and production processes
