Responsibilities:

1. Provide patient and family centered care to the patients of the Adult Primary Care Center for the full range of Podiatric conditions. These services will include but are not limited to: diagnose and treat conditions of the foot, ankle, and related structures of the leg, using medical histories, physical examinations, x-rays, and laboratory test results.

2. Treat conditions such as corns, calluses, ingrown nails, tumors, shortened tendons, bunions, cysts, and abscesses by surgical methods.

3. Advise patients and families about treatments and foot care techniques to care current conditions and for necessary for prevention of future problems. Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one to meet the patient and family needs.

4. Licensure, PPD, Training and other requirements for employment must be kept up to date to keep in good standing.

5. Supervision will include supervision of resident physicians, fellows, medical students, and any other YNHH approved trainees assigned to the Adult Primary Care Center for Podiatry experience.

6. Provide consultation to any APRN, Physician Assistant, other service of the PCC (Women's Center or Pediatrics) or other staff member assigned to the Adult Primary Care Center.

7. Collaborate with staff and administration to ensure evidence based practice for new treatment modalities, supplies and education of the staff and other personnel to changes in practice or treatment.

8. Follow the policies and protocols of Yale New Haven Hospital and the Adult PCC; be in compliance with all applicable state and federal statutes.

9. Participate with Medical Director and Director of Community Health in development of performance goals. Performance evaluations will be performed in accordance with YNHH Department of Human Resources and will be completed at least annually. Evaluations may be done more frequently, or on an ad hoc basis, when determined by the Medical Director and Director of Community Health. Evaluations will be done by the Medical Director and Director of Community Health with potential input from resident physicians, APRNs, and staff members.

Qualifications

  • Degree of DPM, four years of training in podiatric medical school and three years of hospital residency training

Licensure

  • Valid American Board certification in either internal medicine or family medicine and renewed (if needed) prior to expiration Valid and unrestricted Connecticut medical license BLS certification Valid DEA registration and Controlled Substance Certificate
