SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare, and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence. Compensation: Position Description: The Community Resources Porter is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the shower department and ensuring a clean, welcoming environment for guests. This includes maintaining the cleanliness of waiting areas, performing daily cleaning tasks, and collecting trash in the surrounding neighborhood to support a safe and sanitary community space. Schedule: Mondays, 7:00 am 1:00 pm & Tuesday - Thursday, 7:00 am - 11:00 am (22 hours per week) Required: Some HS Education or GED; 1-3 yrs. customer service experience; experience providing services to the homeless Required License/Certification: CPR/First-Aid. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Reports To: In-Kind Services Manager Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. May be required to stand for long periods. Position Designation: This position is designated as Safety Sensitive. You may be subject to drug testing before or during your employment with SOME.
