JOB PURPOSE
The Engineering Technician effectively and accurately reports status updates, on an as needed basis, to supervisors and engineers, in effort to complete assembly and sub-assembly integration into electronic equipment cabinets including the repair, installation, integration and testing of cables and sub-assemblies into electronic racks/assemblies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITY SUMMARY



  • Assemble, repair and install/integrate cables and sub-assemblies into electronic racks/assemblies utilizing appropriate techniques and hand tools.
  • Prepare, review and/or modify technical documentation during all phases of the life cycle support.
  • Perform self-inspection and testing of assemblies produced.
  • Must have the experience and knowledge to use test equipment to validate product quality and reliability.
  • Provide assistance and guidance during the installation and replacement/repair of faulty equipment for client.
  • May assist with proto-typing of new designs and provide feedback to engineers regarding product design improvements.
  • Possess knowledge and experience in all relevant ISO documentation and procedures
  • Perform wiring component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units by following methods and sequence of operations.
  • Ability to read diagrams, drawings, and initial layouts.
  • Use hand and/or power tools, jigs, and saws.
  • Perform a variety of semi-complex electro/mechanical tasks in the buildup and assembly of chassis, power supplies, PCBs, cables and backplane assemblies.
  • Develop solutions to reported problems and evaluate correction actions.
  • Must be able to travel 30% or as required

  • Job Located at U.S. Government Facility
  • This position requires a U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level. Individual must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance/eligibility for employment


Preferred:


  • High School and 2 years of in an industry trade school or civilian college in electronics. Completion of an appropriate military "A" school and completion of at least one appropriate military "B" or "C" school may be substituted for the two year requirement; Associates or higher in EE, CE, CS, TM, IS, IRM, IT or Physics.



Required:


  • Strong computer skills in order to use and understand schematics, hardware and electronic drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), electronic/electrical inter connect drawings/wiring lists, and technical manuals
  • Apply problem-solving skills, maintain a positive attitude,
  • Possess good communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with management, fellow employees, peers, and customers in positive and constructive manner.
  • Must be able to effectively multi-task and will thrive in a fast-paced dynamic production environment.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision


Preferred:


  • 5-8 years recent Navy C4I or other relevant experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, installation and de-installation of electronic systems, equipment, components, antennas, cables, cableways, waveguides and ducts, while using logic analyzers and digital oscilloscopes.

  • Machinist and/or welder experience.
  • Systems and unit Level test experience, including performance of system calibrations, is a plus
  • Experience in the installation and assembly of electronic/mechanical systems onboard Naval Vessels, Submarines, and Shore Facilities
  • OSHA Certification
