Responsible for the development of the exercise curriculum designed to enhance cardiovascular fitness and muscle strength. Demonstrates the initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills to provide comprehensive treatment strategies with the goal of achieving positive outcomes for individual participants.
Essential Functions:
-Designs and teaches the Exercise curriculum. Teaches the resistance training aspects of the exercise sessions.
-Assists in the initial assessment, orientation, and discharge assessments of participants. Completes the initial exercise prescription and assists in the development of the individualized treatment plan with other staff members.
-Develops and adjusts individual exercise prescriptions in accordance with the patient's response and recommendations of the physician and other team members.
-With nursing staff present, supervises exercise sessions and monitors participants for inappropriate responses to exercise.
-Assists with getting patient's vital signs and monitoring patients on telemetry.
-Assists with documenting initial and daily assessment data in Epic.

  • Bachelor's Degree Cardiopulmonary & Exercise Science required or Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
  • Experience in cardiovascular rehabilitation 2-3 years required
  • Active BLS and ACLS
  • Exercise Specialist Certification ACSM preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Understands his/her role in relation to providing patient care activities
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
