Full-Time/Regular The Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) is the statewide professional association for physicians and medical students, supporting 25,000 members. The Managing Director, New Business & Strategic Partnerships is focused on potential revenue growth opportunities and business model transformation, leads NEJM Group business development activities, within and across program and product lines, and ensures that business development efforts support the strategic goals of the organization. With a focus that extends outside the current organization and business lines, the Managing Director, New Business & Strategic Partnerships, identifies, evaluates, and defines value propositions and business models for potential new business lines, strategic partnerships, investments, and acquisitions. They will work with product development and editorial teams, as needed, to increase growth and impact via new business models. They will also work with sales, as needed, in researching, developing and growing revenue through new channels or partners. Acts as business advisor to the senior team and areas within NEJM Group and across MMS to help diversify revenue opportunities. Responsibilities: 1) Engage organizations and external subject matter experts in meaningful dialogue to explore their goals and emerging trends in AI in medicine and healthcare, identifying where NEJM Group can uniquely contribute-leveraging our trusted brand and core strengths to shape impactful commercial opportunities. 2) Working with the senior team, lead development of a strategy to evolve and grow the NEJM Group business, leveraging AI, core capabilities, content, and partnerships. 3) Collaborate with appropriate internal departments to help define and accomplish strategic objectives, especially as they relate to new business lines and international growth opportunities. 4) Lead organization in high-value licensing/strategic partnership initiatives, including developing and implementing strategy and tactics to grow licensing of NEJM Group content to companies and organizations active in AI. 5) Identify, evaluate, and propose new business line & revenue opportunities that leverage NEJM Group's core content and capabilities for financial impact, strategic alignment, operational requirements, and scalability. Work with appropriate business leads to create the business case for opportunities, including market analysis, value proposition, strategic fit, financial models, and funding options. 6) Research, propose, and pursue structural options to fund new growth opportunities. 7) Additional responsibilities as needed. Qualifications: * An MBA or other advanced degree in a related area or equivalent experience is required. * 10+ years' experience in publishing management and corporate strategy is also required; medical publishing experience is preferred. * Proven track record in identifying new commercial opportunities and collaborating with business teams to develop new products/services in an online environment that result in revenue growth. * Ability to work in a matrix environment to create teams for maximum efficiency and results is essential. * Proficiency with business case development and financial modeling. Compensation: The target base pay range for this role is between $220,000 and $250,000. Salary is commensurate with skills, qualifications, and experience.
