The hourly base rate of pay for this internship starts at $18.00, and may increase based on major and class standing.

As a Construction Service intern, you will regularly visit construction sites to observe day-to-day operations, gaining insight into effective construction supervision practices. These visits will help them understand how work is conducted safely, on schedule, and in compliance with design specifications, ultimately aiding their grasp of site management complexities and common challenges. Additionally, the intern will join field engineers and supervisors in conducting detailed observations and assessments of ongoing construction work, documenting observations, identifying potential issues, and suggesting corrective actions to ensure project quality and safety standards are met. This exposure will enable the intern to develop a keen eye for detail and understand quality control processes. The intern will also assist in reviewing and managing construction work packages, including detailed drawings, specifications, and instructions, working closely with the construction engineering team to ensure all packages are complete and accurate, enhancing their project planning and documentation skills. Furthermore, the intern will collaborate with welding engineers and craft personnel to gain a comprehensive understanding of welding processes, including various techniques, equipment, and quality control measures, ensuring welds meet structural and safety requirements. Finally, the intern will rotate through different engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, and civil, to learn from experienced engineers, assisting with design reviews, system checks, and interdisciplinary coordination. This multidisciplinary exposure will help them appreciate the collaborative nature of engineering and the importance of coordination among different disciplines.
