Job Summary


The Production Planner is responsible for managing the procurement and inventory of materials required for production. This role involves forecasting material needs, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring that production schedules are met efficiently and cost-effectively.


Key Responsibilities



  1. Material Requirements Planning


    1. Analyze production schedules and forecasts to determine material requirements.
    2. Create and maintain accurate material plans to support production needs.


  2. Supplier Coordination


    1. Communicate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
    2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors to negotiate pricing and terms.


  3. Inventory Management


    1. Monitor inventory levels to prevent stockouts and overstock situations.
    2. Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.


  4. Data Analysis


    1. Analyze trends in material usage and forecast future requirements.
    2. Generate reports on material availability, usage rates, and inventory turnover.


  5. Process Improvement


    1. Identify opportunities for process improvements in material planning and procurement.
    2. Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.


  6. Cross Functional Collaboration


    1. Work closely with production, engineering, and logistics teams to align production planning with business objectives.
    2. Participate in cross-functional meetings to address material-related issues and opportunities.


  7. System Management


    1. Utilize inventory management and ERP systems to track material availability and orders.
    2. Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance in planning systems.


  8. Compliance and Safety


    1. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards related to material handling and storage.
    2. Maintain documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in production planning, procurement, or inventory management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.


Preferred Skills



  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Certification in inventory management (APICS, CPIM)


Work Environment



  • Typically works in an office environment but may also spend time in the production areas. This role may require occasional overtime to meet production deadlines or respond to urgent material needs.
