Overview

Provides quality health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of Physician by performing the following duties in a compassionate, cost effective manner.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess patient data and perform interview, physical examination and begin discussing goals of care within prescribed guidelines and instructions of the Convenient Care/ Urgent Care Physician.
  • Maintain timely consult schedule.
  • Provide patient and family education to assist patient and family to understand role of Urgent Care in their current health situation.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patient clinical problems and health care needs if required.
  • Record physical findings, and formulate plan and prognosis, based on patient condition.
  • Coordinate care with Urgent Care Physician and other health professionals; preparing comprehensive patient care plan.
  • Discuss health care plan and goals of care with Physician partner.
  • Consult with partnering physician and refer to specialized health resources for treatment and evaluation as needed.
  • Assists in developing Urgent Care protocols and processes.

Education and Experience

Accredited schooling through a Physician Assistant degree program.

Certification and Licensure

Valid state license in State of Practice.
Obtain CME credits for license renewal. Current certified status through National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Obtain CME experience as required for re-certification by NCCPA.
Approved CPR or BLS certification.
Other certification/licensure as required by contract.

Skills and Abilities
Ability to work independently and under pressure.
Good communication/interpretive skills.
Excellent analytical skills.
Works requires a high level of independent judgment. The position has substantial latitude for independent action.
