MRIGlobal currently has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Scientist with emphasis in Molecular Biology for our Life Sciences Center in Kansas City, Missouri. This position will perform technically based tasks and laboratory experimentation according to established protocols and SOPs. The individual will assist with the execution of research project procedures primarily by performing data analysis. Typical methods include nucleic acid extraction and PCR techniques. The individual will be responsible for proficiency in the use of all equipment and procedures for the assigned area with strict adherence to quality control and quality assurance assessments.



Research/Testing Duties Include:



  • Perform molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction and real-time PCR
  • Draft reports for small projects or projects requiring routine analysis and testing
  • Operation and maintenance of common molecular instrumentation such as AB7500 FAST DX, KingFisher Flex, and multiple models of QuantStudio RT-PCR instruments
  • Maintain laboratory notebook and prepare raw data for submission to supervisor
  • Utilize Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to document sample receipt, testing, and upload results


Qualifications:



  • B.S. degree in biology, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry or equivalent
  • Experience performing nucleic acid extractions and developing/performing traditional and real-time PCR assays is a plus
  • Experience in BSL-2 Laboratory environment is a plus
  • Experience in a clinical diagnostics setting is a plus
  • Ability to contribute technical knowledge to develop test plans, experimental designs, and analytical methods
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to work independently, design experiments, and analyze data
  • PC skills and ability to learn new software and systems.
  • Maintain laboratory notebook and prepare raw data for submission to supervisor
  • Ability to effectively communicate and perform multiple tasks simultaneously, well organized, analytical, and flexible to adjust to priorities
  • Ability to draft reports for small projects or projects requiring routine analysis and testing
  • U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.

Pay Range $54,900 - $59,290


The salary range is intended as a general guideline and is not a guaranteed offer, as compensation depends on various factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market conditions.
