Position Highlights |
This role centers on research into uncertainty propagation in a wind instrument using polynomial chaos expansion. Responsibilities include building the computational framework and model and generating results that meet publication standards. This position is temporary and expected to end 89 days from start date. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Review of the state-of-the-art in uncertainty in musical instruments.
- Develop a computer framework based for the propagation of uncertainties in a wind instrument.
- Implementation of polynomial chaos expansion in the framework.
- Application of the uncertainty propagation framework to a clarinet and trumpet-like wind instrument.
- Communicate these results in written form (reports and/or publications) as well as oral presentations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge at the expertise level in physics of wind instruments.
- Skilled in programming.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- 1 year of relevant work experience required.

- Masters or Doctoral degree (or last year doctoral student) in mechanical engineering or related field.
