Purpose of Position
The Director of TRIO Student Support Services ( SSS) is responsible for overseeing the federally funded TRIO SSS grant program. This position leads critical initiatives that promote student success and support smooth transitions through college for SSS participants who are first-generation in college, low-income, or have a disability. The Director serves as a liaison with other campus departments to coordinate programs and services that enhance the college experience for SSS participants, leading to successful outcomes as they navigate each stage of their collegiate journey.
Primary Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate student success initiatives offered within the TRIO Student Support Services program.

Coordinate administration of all project activities.

Ensure successful implementation and completion of all program goals and objectives.

Lead and direct recruitment efforts of potential participants.

Direct and supervise staff and student employees.

Maintain fiscal oversight of departmental and grant budgets (including related institutional accounts, grant accounts, student employee accounts, foundation accounts, and all procurement expenditures), ensuring compliance with all university, federal, and state regulations;, and assuring the TRIO Student Support Services program complies with U.S. Department of Education regulations.

Identify opportunities to expand programs and services relating to the success of students who are first-generation in college, low-income, or have a disability.

Lead the preparation of grant renewal submissions based on timelines set by the U.S. Department of Education.

Identify, gather, and collect evidence of program effectiveness and outcomes and compile semesterly and annual reports as required by NKU and the U.S. Department of Education.

Meet with students and collaborate with faculty and staff, as necessary.

Oversee the planning and implementation of participant leadership activities within the program.

Participate in state and regional professional organizations.

Promote a campus climate supportive of eligible students.

Stay current with TRIO higher education issues.
Qualifications
Master's Degree in education, business, human services or other related field required;

Four years experience in a leadership position in higher education or of demonstrated success in non-profit program leadership and management required;

Extensive knowledge of federal TRIO programs required, with three years of direct work within a TRIO program preferred;

Demonstrated grant writing experience required with grant management experience preferred;

Effective budgetary management skills required;

Competency in use of databases or data collection for reporting;

Knowledge of student development theory and practice, particularly as it relates to project-eligible college students;

Demonstrated experience in academic advising and understanding of support needed for project-eligible college students or similar populations;

Familiarity with university administrative practices and procedures;

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;

Ability to function well in and contribute to a dynamic environment that promotes teamwork, collegiality, and collaboration;

Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks.
