Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred or minimum of ten years' experience in telecom environment
- In-depth knowledge of telecom systems
- Understands techniques, procedures, and methods for maintaining systems
- Advanced understanding and programming for voicemail systems
- Advanced understanding and programming for call management systems
- Understands concepts for security gap identification, mitigation, and closure for telecom systems
- Knowledge of disaster recovery/business continuance planning and assessment
- Experience in administrative, technical, and procedural security controls
- Knowledge of server, firewall, VPN, and home user applications
- Experience with the following applications: Linux, VM Ware, Lync integration, and Active Directory Group Policy
- Avaya system administration preferred
- Teamwork-collaboration with technical professionals and vendors
- Experience working in a VoIP environment required
- Experience with SIP preferred
Job Responsibilities
- Server work to include documenting, troubleshooting, upgrading, planning, patching, and designing implementations.
- Responsible and accountable for the on-time completion of tasks and projects, demonstrating a commitment to meet established deadlines and priorities. Serves as an active member of technical work groups needed to advance project objectives.
- Aids in technical planning for areas supported by work unit as part of yearly division planning. Provides leadership in the technical design, selection, and application of the of information systems resources to satisfy the requirements of the systems.
- Develops technical proposals that consider alternatives and business case, gains needed institutional approvals, and works effectively across departmental organizations gaining consensus of stakeholders.
- Responsible for the collaboration in strategic planning and design of an organization's telecommunications systems.
- Analyzes, recommends, and negotiates telecommunication services.
- Works with the user community to understand their communication needs and implements solutions to accommodate them.
- Collaborates with department managers on voice communication traffic reporting. Designs call center voice traffic flow to maximize call centers effectiveness.
- Assists IT system administrator with security audits.
- Plans and tests backup and recovery.
- Responsible for the 24/7 uptime availability of the telephony system.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.
- Develops preliminary telecommunication budget and assists in the administration of the budgetary process.
- Remains on the forefront of emerging IT/telecom security practices.
- Trains IT personnel on basic telecom troubleshooting, moves, adds, and changes.
- Continually seeks opportunities to increase internal client satisfaction and deepen client relationships.
- Facilitation of meetings and project participation.
- Problem-solving on telecom server platforms.
- Performs annual review of software tools as to their continued cost and benefit compared to new tools.
- Instrumental to IT in new facility design, remodel, and outfitting.
- Oversees research, evaluation, and implementation of new technologies.
- Indirectly manages staff in the day-to-day performance of telecom projects
- Resolves and escalates issues rapidly.
- Participates in various committees and project implementations.
- Performs maintenance windows as required for server patching.
- Alarm management and resolution.
- Routing and IP/SIP management.
- Licensing and certificate management.
- Remote worker deployment and management.
- Supervision of Telecommunications Analyst.
- Other duties as assigned.
