MU TITLE: Temporary Professional

LOCATION: Buchanan County - St. Joseph, MO

ABOUT THE 4-H PROGRAM SUPPORT POSITION

Coordinated by the University of Missouri Extension Buchanan County Extension Council. The goal is to increase the interest of young professionals working for Extension.

This is an in-person position at the MU Extension Buchanan County Office located in Saint Joseph, Missouri and will cover Buchanan County.

This position will assist in the planning, management, and support of 4-H Youth Development programs in assigned geographic area, under the guidance and supervision of the 4-H Youth Development Specialist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Support planning, marketing, implementing and evaluating 4-H youth development programs.

Coordinate communications such as social media, newsletter, email blasts, etc.

Support educational events, contests, and programs.

Collaborate with 4-H staff team to support leadership experiences for youth

Participate in 4-H and Extension council meetings, as needed.

Manage record keeping and report preparation of 4-H Youth Development Programs.

Participate in training and development opportunities including child abuse and neglect policies, CPR, technology and other skills appropriate for the position.

Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, is required to fulfill assigned responsibilities. Some travel is required using personal vehicle. Use of personal vehicle is reimbursed by the Buchanan County Council. Commuting miles (from home to work and work to home) are not reimbursable.

Conduct all activities in accordance with the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX, Rehabilitation, Americans with Disabilities Act and local, state and federal regulations.

As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.

LEADERSHIP RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Administrative supervision is received from the Field Specialist in 4-H Youth Development.

UNIVERSITY INFORMATION

Shift

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (20 hours per week)

Ability to travel and to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, is required to fulfill assigned responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Must have regular, reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Ideal candidate would have previous 4-H experience, strong communication skills, and be a self-starter.

Computer skills using databases, Microsoft Office, and various forms of social media.

Ability and willingness to learn and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously with appropriate supervision.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Grade: MKT
