Human Resources Intern
Washington County, located in West Bend, has an excellent opportunity as a Human Resources Intern. In this position you are responsible for a variety of clerical support functions within the Human Resources Department as well as special projects.

*Candidates should possess a High School Diploma and actively in process of completing a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
*Knowledge of Human Resource rules and regulations.
*Prior professional office experience is a plus.
*Must have computer experience with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resources, responsible for a variety of clerical support functions within the Human Resources Department as well as special projects.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

*Enters new hire information, employee disciplines and training in the HRIS system.
*Maintains and updates all organizational charts for all Departments.
*Maintains all employee I-9's as indicated by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
*Coordinates the background checks.
*Assist with posting job openings and conducting reference checks.
*Updates the Human Resource page on the County intranet as needed.
*Utilizes HRIS system to prepare various reports. Exports data to Excel for data analysis.
*Creates and updates data using Microsoft Word and Excel.
*May assist in compiling data and completing special projects and other surveys as needed.
*Assists with the review process for County employees.
*Performs general receptionist duties. Handles inquiries concerning employment and other personnel issues, either over the telephone or from walk ins.
*Provides clerical support to the Human Resources Department.
*Scans documents, converts files to PDF, manages and archives PDF documents using the Human Resources Department digital imaging system.
*Performs other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.

Work Direction Received:
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Human Resources.

Supervision Exercised:
None.

Decision Making:
Decisions concerning work priorities and other daily activities are made using some discretion in setting priorities and interpreting information. Typical focus of work is on matters of Department-wide significance. Incumbent is expected to contribute to the decision-making process by collecting necessary information and providing suggestions to others for their decision-making.
Interaction:
There is significant interaction with other County employees, Department Heads, Supervisors, Wellness providers, the general public, and other municipal and governmental agencies.

Essential Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of personnel rules and regulations, application procedures for positions, general office practices, and operations of county government. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, interact effectively with co workers, other Department personnel and the general public while maintaining confidentiality as required. Able to fulfill physical demands of job, sensory demands (seeing and hearing), and cognitive demands (concentration, conceptualization, memorization).

Training and Experience:
