Description

As the Field Staff Supervisor for Construction Testing Services (CTS) at The RISE Group, Inc., you will oversee the training, development, and quality of the department's CMT field technicians. You will work in tandem with the department's project managers and staff professionals in this capacity. You will also occasionally perform field duties and testing when required due to the current department workload.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Train new staff, keep updated and detailed training records, oversee training performed by other technicians.
  • Perform site visits for current CMT field technicians to review and reinforce best practices.
  • Conduct technician meetings quarterly and as needed. Meetings will include training refreshers, paperwork issues, new policies, etc. Collect feedback from project managers and laboratory staff and perform 1-on-1 meetings with individual CMT technicians.
  • Organize and maintain all field equipment, including calibration records and ordering.
  • Review all vehicle inspection emails and resolve issues that arise. Fill out incident reports in the event of a staff injury or vehicle accident.
  • Maintain and update current in-house training documents for group training sessions during the construction offseason. Oversee the schedule and presenters for these training sessions.
  • Write weekly supervisor reports that summarize project sites that were visited, field technician issues and shout outs, equipment issues, etc.
  • Conduct performance reviews for field staff. Assist with setting goals that align with the department's needs.
  • Handle disciplinary actions, including write-ups, for field staff.
  • Approve timecards and PTO requests.
  • Occasionally perform field tests using specialized equipment designed to collect data from the various construction materials, i.e.; nuclear density gauge, coring equipment and other power and hand tools. You will be required to keep equipment clean and in good working order.
  • Supervise and interact with construction site personnel, engineers and state and federal representatives while presenting yourself as a professional representative of the company.
  • Driving and maintaining the appearance and operation of company vehicles to and from job sites.


Work Environment:

This job operates in both a professional office environment as well as on a variety of outdoor job sites. Position will entail frequent exposure to outside work, dusty environments as well as occasional sedentary work. Local travel is expected for this position. A valid driver's license and clean record, driving company vehicle(s) is/are required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time 40-hour position. Days and hours of work vary but are most commonly Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Hours may periodically include nights and weekends and overtime may be requested as determined by the needs of the department.

Required Education and Experience:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • General knowledge of the construction industry and the ability to read plans
  • Valid driver's license and clean record, driving company vehicle(s) is/are required
  • Ability to acquire certifications from OSHA, NICET, NETTCP, ICC and ACI



Preferred Education and Experience:



  • Degree or skills acquired from a college or technical school
  • Management experience (any industry)
