The Image Processor Operator plays a key role in preparing and optimizing digital assets for print production, ensuring accuracy and consistency throughout the workflow. This position requires technical proficiency in design and prepress software, along with the ability to navigate complex file systems and production tools. Responsibilities include coordinating with multiple departments to support production needs, troubleshoot file issues, and maintain quality standards. The role also involves hands-on work with printing systems and materials to support efficient and high-quality output.

This position is on 1st shift Monday - Friday 7:30am - 3:30pm

In this position you will:



  • Access, organize, and manage digital artwork files via network servers and shared directories to prepare and stage jobs for print production, ensuring file integrity and version control.
  • Operate proficiently across Mac and PC platforms, leveraging industry-standard design and production software including Adobe Acrobat, InDesign, and Illustrator to manipulate, format, and finalize artwork for output.
  • Utilize Kodak Prinergy workflow software to generate high-quality print separations, ensuring accurate color reproduction and alignment with press specifications.
  • Download and process production files from internal systems (e.g., Prodo), verifying completeness and readiness for downstream operations.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to manage and resolve discard issues, including the reprinting of cardbacks and barcodes using Virko and other internal tools.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams-including Engineering, Operations Supervisors, and Art Departments-to develop and deliver test files, printing plates, and identification tags tailored to departmental needs.

  • Conduct comprehensive preflight checks on layout files (travelers) to confirm that all artwork meets technical and quality standards prior to print, identifying and correcting any issues proactively.



  • Operate and maintain specialized printing equipment, including tasks such as ink mixing, calibration, and application, to ensure consistent output quality and minimize downtime.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent

  • Minimum of two years of hands-on experience in a professional print production or digital imaging environment.



  • Demonstrated expertise in digital file management, prepress workflows, and print production processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in high-volume environments.



  • Proficient in both Mac and Windows operating systems, with the ability to troubleshoot cross-platform compatibility issues.



  • Advanced working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with emphasis on Acrobat, InDesign, and Illustrator for layout preparation, file correction, and output optimization.



  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.



  • Physically capable of performing job duties, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.



  • Must successfully complete a computer-based assessment, including a typing test (minimum 40 WPM) and a Microsoft Excel proficiency evaluation.



  • Familiarity with color management systems and large-format printing equipment is a plus.



  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization.





PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Additional consideration given to candidates with vocational training or certifications in graphic design, digital media, or print production.

  • Proven problem-solving abilities and strong verbal and written communication skills



  • Exceptional attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy



  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well under pressure



  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment



  • Comfortable working in a structured setting while remaining adaptable to changing priorities



  • Self-motivated and capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently



  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication and coordination skills





ADDITIONAL DETAILS





    • Work overtime as required during peak seasons
    • This is a climate-controlled environment with normal physical injury hazard associated with an office environment.
    • There is some noise and hearing protection is required by Hallmark when not in the office.
    • You may be exposed to dust, fumes, gases, radiation, or microwave
    • This position is located in Lawrence, Kansas. Relocation is not provided.
