About This Role

The Department of Grain and Food Science seeks applications for a non-tenure-track, annually renewable position at the instructor level in the area of milling science and management. The position is for the 9-month academic year, with the possibility to work during the summer months to supplement salary.

Key Responsibilities:
* Teach undergraduate courses in milling/grain processing and management of milling operations.
* Exhibits a genuine passion for inspiring students and fostering their academic and professional growth.
* Support programmatic efforts including student mentoring, recruitment, internships and job placement, curriculum development, and service on departmental committees.
* Actively contribute to departmental outreach with industry partners and recruitment initiatives.
* Other duties as assigned by the Department Head.

Worksite Description

This position is On-site.

All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.


What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:

* B.S. in Milling Science, Cereal Science, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Minimum of five years of direct experience in the wheat, corn, oat, or rye milling industry (or a related field), which may include roles in production or operations, maintenance supervision, or project management.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability and interest in teaching in a classroom setting.
* Desire and ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and contribute to a collegial and collaborative workplace.

The degree requirement is necessary for accreditation purposes and to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.
