About This Role

This position, under the supervision of the farm manager, provides essential support for the bulk farming operation that is charged with producing, processing, and marketing foundation seed wheat, production of feedstuffs for the research feedlot, and testing on a commercial scale the best management practices developed by researchers on a small plot scale.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma
  • One year of experience in agricultural or animal sciences

    • Education in the biological sciences, agricultural sciences, or animal sciences may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.




Preferred Qualifications:



  • BS degree.
  • CDL License.
  • Three years experience in large-scale farming operations.
  • Vocational training in the safe and proper use of pesticides.
  • Ability to drive large and small farm equipment safely and skillfully.
  • Ability to recognize plant diseases and signs of insect infestation.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and effects of pesticides (herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret label and MSDS instructions regarding safe and proper use of agricultural chemicals.
  • Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions pertaining to repair, maintenance, and operation of agricultural equipment, vehicles, and power tools.
  • Knowledge of the methods, practices, techniques and tools used in planting and the ability to read and follow plans and designs for planting crops and grasses.
  • Ability to setup, calibrate, and operate precision agricultural equipment.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, in order to interpret precise instructions, procedures, technical plans and designs, and keep research and production records.


Additional licenses / registrations / certifications:



  • Valid Driver's License
