You will architect and build robust services powering pricing, cart, and checkout experiences while ensuring reliability, observability, and compliance at scale. Our team sits within Marketing but plays a unique role as the bridge between business needs and modern engineering practices-shaping how Microsoft delivers next-generation web and commerce experiences. We focus on transforming our marketing and product websites into performant, scalable platforms that enable seamless cart and checkout journeys, while leveraging modern web frameworks, reusable component libraries, and AI-driven automation to drive measurable efficiency and revenue gains.The Senior Software Engineer - Backend Platform & Commerce Experiences role will be central to this transformation. As a hands-on engineer, you will modernize and scale web experiences across multiple properties, drive adoption of web components from our Reimagine design system, and extend that library to power dynamic, enterprise-grade shopping and checkout flows. Beyond hands-on development, you'll influence architecture, improve developer efficiency through shared tooling and governance, and ensure quality at scale by reviewing pull requests and mentoring vendor engineering teams.
