You will architect and build robust services powering pricing, cart, and checkout experiences while ensuring reliability, observability, and compliance at scale. Our team sits within Marketing but plays a unique role as the bridge between business needs and modern engineering practices-shaping how Microsoft delivers next-generation web and commerce experiences. We focus on transforming our marketing and product websites into performant, scalable platforms that enable seamless cart and checkout journeys, while leveraging modern web frameworks, reusable component libraries, and AI-driven automation to drive measurable efficiency and revenue gains.The Senior Software Engineer - Backend Platform & Commerce Experiences role will be central to this transformation. As a hands-on engineer, you will modernize and scale web experiences across multiple properties, drive adoption of web components from our Reimagine design system, and extend that library to power dynamic, enterprise-grade shopping and checkout flows. Beyond hands-on development, you'll influence architecture, improve developer efficiency through shared tooling and governance, and ensure quality at scale by reviewing pull requests and mentoring vendor engineering teams. ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, andmaintainscalable backend services in .NET/C# for pricing, cart, and checkout workflows.Implement APIs and microservices that integrate with enterprise commerce and catalog systems.Ensure availability and performance through efficient code, caching, and fault-tolerant design.Establish andmaintainrobust backend monitoring, logging, and telemetry pipelines.Review andvalidatevendor or partner-delivered code for quality, performance, and compliance.Guide teams on practices for backend architecture, observability, and cloud-native services.Integrate with enterprise commerce platforms, payment gateways, and customer identity services. |
