Purpose of Position

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
  • Oversees shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with all export/import law and procedures, tariffs and duties; licenses and restrictions. Verifying compliance on AES filings. Insures Hazmat regulations are followed.
  • Prepares and analyzes weekly department reports.
  • Maintains records on outbound shipments, delivery verification and shipping charges.
  • Requests quotes for shipping to get the best cost savings for the company.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Resolve errors and address complaints to enhance process efficiency.
  • Supports a positive workplace culture through conflice resolution and team engagement.
  • Overtime required.
Minimum Education

Associate's Degree in applicable field

Minimum Experience

Five years related experience and/or training; + two years experience with international shipping requirements and regulations. Previous supervisory experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

Strategic thinking - strong decision making skills

Strong communication skills

Accountable and results oriented

ERP experience - SyteLine or similar progream

Large scale manufacturing background

Export Control/ITAR regulations experience
