Job Title: First Line Risk & Control Testing Manager
Location: OH - Columbus
What you'll do: As a First Line Risk & Control Manager you'll work as a first line of defense risk professional responsible for support and/or execution of various risk programs and business unit risk activities in adherence with the Company's risk appetite and corporate strategy. In this role you'll engage with business units in the management of risks and controls across all risk types, monitoring execution of risk policies, procedures, and program requirements. You'll effectively manage risks, and serve as an effective communication channel between the Risk Management department and business units.
- Assist in the development of a robust testing plan to monitor for control health
- Identify and evaluate emerging risks and present findings to Product/function leadership.
- Oversee the execution of the team's control testing activities to ensure quality, accuracy and completeness
- Critically review testing results to confirm they appropriately assess whether controls effectively mitigate identified risks
- Challenge test approaches, evidence and conclusions to drive rigor and consistency across control testing
- Provide clear feedback and coaching to testers to strengthen control evaluation quality
- Identify gaps, weaknesses and inconsistencies in testing and escalate issues as appropriate.
- Drive continuous improvement of testing processes, documentation standards and review protocols
- Partner with risk owners and stakeholders to validate that controls are designed and operating effectively
- Providing briefings as necessary and insight to the Control environment health, and on a quarterly basis to 1st & 2nd line business partners.
What you'll need:
- 7+ years of related experience in Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance, Internal Audit or similar field.
- Bachelor's degree in related field required.
- Previous leadership experience required.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of applicable regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Intermediate to advanced experience in Compliance, Operations Management, Audit, Risk Management, or related field.
- Advanced analytical skills to determine key areas of focus, summary of meetings and key decisions and actions.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of and experience in documenting process maps in process mapping software.
- Advanced experience identifying risks and controls in processes and performing/guiding risk and control self assessments and other risk management activities.
- Advanced speaking and writing communication skills.
