The Institute for Emerging Issues at NC State University ( IEI) connects North Carolinians across sectors to address the state's most pressing challenges. As a temporary Director of Community Impact, you will lead strategic community engagement efforts, support program development, and foster partnerships that advance IEI's mission.

Requirements and Preferences






Work Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (flexible hybrid schedule); Average of 20 hours per week
Other Work/Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead community engagement across IEI initiatives, ensuring alignment and impact.
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Design and facilitate convenings that elevate critical issues and drive solutions.
  • Support IEI's Forum program and statewide grant initiatives.
  • Measure and communicate program impact.
  • Contribute to grant writing and reporting.
  • Supervise functional team staff and potential student workers.
  • Temporary, part-time position funded by grants and state appropriations.
  • Travel required (10-15%), including occasional evenings/weekends.

Minimum Experience/Education
  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, or related field.
Department Required Skills

  • Strong facilitation, partnership-building, and communication skills.
  • 7-10 years of experience in public policy or program implementation.
  • Experience managing grants and evaluating program outcomes.
  • Knowledge of North Carolina's political and community landscape preferred.
