During this 10-week internship, you'll gain hands-on experience within a leading health system through the Market Performance Partnership (MPP) Internship Program. The program encompasses a variety of service areas within our Optum Insight (OI) Provider Market team. Interns in the 2026 cohort will be placed in one of eight hybrid-location sites based on business needs and geographic location:

  • Eden Prairie, Minnesota
  • Waukesha, Wisconsin
  • Owensboro, Kentucky
  • Boulder, Colorado
  • Walnut Creek, California
  • Portland, Maine
  • Bangor, Maine
  • Presque Isle, Maine

Primary Responsibilities:

The following are service areas where candidates may be placed. Please note that service area placement is dependent on business need and availability. While we will take your service area preference into consideration, it is not guaranteed. Interns will get the opportunity to work on various projects within their assigned service area that may include:

  • Inpatient Care Management
  • Revenue Cycle Management
  • Analytics
  • Information Technology
  • Account Services
  • Sustainability & Growth
  • Project Management
  • Health Informatics/Epic

During our 10-week internship program, you will gain meaningful work experience and exposure to the nation's leading health care company, while learning what a career at UnitedHealth Group will have in store for you. The goal of our internship is to put people first and stay true to our mission - helping people live healthier lives and helping the health system work better for everyone.

*This is a Full-Time summer internship position working 40 standard business working hours Monday-Friday from June 2, 2026 - August 7, 2026*

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Analytics, Information Technology, or Business related
  • Intermediate level of experience with productivity tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Proven comfortability with public speaking and client-facing work
  • Proven solid problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Proven eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience/knowledge of health care systems

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18 to $32 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
