Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service is seeking applicants for a research postdoctoral fellow position in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Newborn Medicine.

The candidate will join an interdisciplinary team that uses cell biology, animal model systems, genetic engineering, biochemistry, and molecular biology techniques to investigate the relationships between iron metabolism and erythropoiesis. The successful candidate must be highly motivated with extensive experience within one or more of the following areas: mouse genetics, research animal husbandry and tissue procurement, cell culture, and cell/molecular biology. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience studying disorders of pregnancy. The candidate is expected to have a strong record of scientific productivity and demonstrate the ability to conduct independent laboratory investigations under the auspices of the principal investigator. He or she should be able to think critically about complex problems and contribute to a team environment to advance the research projects of other investigators in the setting.

The Fleming laboratory is collaborative and supportive of a diverse workforce. The candidate will be responsible for working well with other researchers, and for participating in the education of trainees including graduate students, undergraduate students, medical students, and clinical fellows in the research setting. Intellectual honesty, scientific curiosity, and interpersonal collegiality are essential qualities. The position requirements include a Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology or other relevant scientific field and from 0 to 4 years of post-doctoral experience.
