This is a hybrid position based in Culver City, CA, and you have the option to elect into a 9/80 flex work schedule.

The pay range for this position is between $86,031- $98,936 annually.

Role Summary

As a Senior Human Resources Business Partner (Sr. HRBP) you will be under the direction of the Director of Human Resources and will perform a wide variety of skilled human resources duties and will play a critical role in aligning human resource practices with business objectives to drive organizational success.

Partnering with leaders and staff, the Senior Human Resources Business Partner acts as a trusted advisor, with a strong focus on employee relations, performance management, learning and development, and compliance of HR policies, procedures and employment laws.

This role requires a strong understanding of the business and a proactive approach to identifying HR solutions that support both immediate and long-term objectives. The Sr. HRBP role is critical in shaping a positive workplace culture by supporting effective people practices, driving employee engagement, and ensuring legal compliance in all HR-related matters.

Primary Duties

Employee Relations



  • Counsels and advises management and employees on HR policies and employment laws, while providing HR guidance and interpretation, as appropriate.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention by addressing concerns proactively and fostering open communication.
  • Resolve conflicts effectively, ensuring a balanced and legally compliant approach to conflict resolution.
  • Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations, while maintaining accurate and thorough documentation of all employee investigations, including details of the incident, witness statements, actions taken, and final outcomes, ensuring compliance with agency policies and legal requirements.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, etc.)


Learning & Development



  • Collaborates with management to identify training needs that promote organizational/department goals and support employee engagement, satisfaction and retention, as well as compliance.
  • Assists in the planning, design (prepare, revise, and maintain), implementation, including but not limited to, preparing materials, scheduling, supporting, tracking, leading and facilitating of the HR related professional training and development programs.
  • Conducts staff training as needed via in-person or zoom, including providing location, regional and individual training, set-up and other support as required.
  • Provides direction to management on appropriate use of coaching and teambuilding techniques that promote organizational goals and support employee engagement, satisfaction and retention.
  • Evaluates and monitors training programs to ensure training objectives are met.


Compliance and Policies



  • Maintains working knowledge of employment laws, industry trends, and effective human resources practices through participation in seminars and classes, membership in professional organizations, reading materials and contacts in the industry; consults with legal counsel as necessary.
  • Ensures that the agency provides all required regulatory reports such as EEO-1, AAPs, and others.
  • Assists in the development and revisions of Agency policies and procedures, employee handbook, and other related document updates.
  • Collaborates with managers to monitor compliance.
  • Participates in agency's safety and other related meetings and committees.
  • Ensures new hires, promotions and transfers are aligned with wage and hour laws and regulations.
  • Develops and implements ways to improve efficiencies within HR processes and collaborates with related departments, as appropriate.


Position Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, a related field desired; or HR certification with a combination of education and work experience.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong emphasis on employee relations, policy compliance, and learning & development.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices and employment law (state and federal) to include COBRA, Wage and Hour laws, Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Employment laws, OSHA, Workers' Compensation, American with Disabilities Act, FMLA, CFRA, etc.)
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, concise, and professional documents, reports, policies, emails, and other correspondence, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company standards and to successfully interface with all levels of management and staff.
  • The ability to implement new human resource programs designed to meet organization objectives (e.g. retention, compensation, benefits, employee services, etc.)
  • Basic general math skills sufficient to analyze compensation and benefits data, and prepare associated reports.
  • Demonstrated experience resolving employee conflicts, managing investigations, and advising on complex people matters.
  • Experience designing and implementing effective trainings.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong and collaborative interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficient in HRIS systems; familiarity with UltiPro/UKG is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Capable of creating and formatting documents, managing large datasets, performing data analysis, and developing professional presentations.
  • The analytical skills, experience and good judgment to make decisions within policies.

  • Ability to adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • Current California driver's license and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier
