Senior Accountant - Client Finance
Job ID: 101388

Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges-the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place.
Your Impact
You will be an essential member of our North America Client Finance team, working directly with finance managers, client service team leaders and colleagues within client finance and across several administrative functions within the firm.
You will be a member of the North American team of 35+ accountants, senior accountants, and specialists, reporting to a North America Manager of Finance. McKinsey is a non-hierarchical network organization, and we place a premium on low-ego, highly-collaborative colleagues, with strong general problem-solving and communication skills, who are able to navigate tricky situations and complex stakeholder groups, act through influence not authority, and craft solutions that balance sometimes competing needs.
In this role you will work alongside client service teams and industry leadership to manage the economics of our client engagements throughout the full engagement lifecycle (ensuring appropriate budgeting and financial set up, monthly monitoring of revenue and expenses, and billing/accounts receivable). You will also analyze and provide reasoning for variances, forecasting, and make appropriate recommendations.
As part of the broader North American team, you will help to identify areas of opportunities and work closely with leadership to lead/assist with the design and implementation of new financial processes and systems, and streamline existing procedures as needed.
Your role will play a key part in ensuring compliance with firm finance policies. You will be positioned to act as a resource for team members, providing training, coaching and support. Additionally, you will provide ad-hoc analyses and regional/global special project support as needed.
Your Growth
You are someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, bringing a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle meaningful challenges that have a real impact.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help you quickly broaden your expertise, grow into a well-rounded professional, and contribute to work that truly makes a difference.
When you join us, you will have:
  • Continuous learning: Our learning and apprenticeship culture, backed by structured programs, is all about helping you grow while creating an environment where feedback is clear, actionable, and focused on your development. The real magic happens when you take the input from others to heart and embrace the fast-paced learning experience, owning your journey.
  • A voice that matters: From day one, we value your ideas and contributions. You'll make a tangible impact by offering innovative ideas and practical solutions. We not only encourage diverse perspectives, but they are critical in driving us toward the best possible outcomes.
  • Global community: With colleagues across 65+ countries and over 100 different nationalities, our firm's diversity fuels creativity and helps us come up with the best solutions. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Exceptional benefits: On top of a competitive salary (based on your location, experience, and skills), we provide a comprehensive benefits package to enable holistic well-being for you and your family.
Your qualifications and skills
  • 4-year university degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • 5-7 years of finance and/or accounting experience
  • Independent project management skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple/ambiguous tasks simultaneously with minimal oversight
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate clearly and efficiently to team members and internal stakeholders in both verbal and written form
  • Excellent organizational ability and keen attention to detail
  • Experience in a professional services environment preferred
