SUMMARY The Senior Occupational Therapist practices within the scope of care defined in the Georgia Occupational Therapy Act. Plans, implements and evaluates OT intervention to in and outpatients upon consultation with a physician in order to promote the maximal functional efficiency of the patient. Demonstrates advanced clinical competency in at least one area of practice and satisfactory level of competency in administration/ supervision. Administers the delivery of service for specialty area. Responsible for treatment of all clients appropriately referred to the Occupational Therapy Department at Grady. Contacts physicians and/or makes appropriate referrals to other services; monitors consults written in area of responsibility and screens them as needed. Provides care in a manner that is appropriate for the patient's age; demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to meet the patient's physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs. Performs all treatment safely and with minimal risk to the patient, therapist, and other Rehab personnel. Completes initial evaluations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and charges within the electronic medical records according to hospital and departmental guidelines. Demonstrates an ability to cross-cover a minimal of four clinical areas providing occupational therapy services within the Rehab Therapy Department. Ensures that all written documentation meets the standards set as quality monitors for the department. Maintains knowledge of the hospital and the department's infection control, safety, and risk management policies. Performs an appropriate evaluation of the patient and records it accurately and concisely on the forms provided. Sets objective and quantifiable goals for an individual treatment program that are based on problems identified in the evaluation process, the medical history, the prognosis, and the desires and needs of the patient and their family. Designs a treatment program that will enable the patient to meet the goals previously set. emonstrates an ability to cross-cover a minimal of four clinical areas providing occupational therapy services within the Rehab Therapy Department. Required: * Minimum of four years of clinical experience required. * At least one year in a teaching hospital required. * Area of clinical expertise must be clearly defined through either additional certification or professional experience required. * Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia required. * AHA CPR Certification required
