Summary

This position will be responsible for the planning and coordination of all transmission and distribution outages with ERCOT and other utilities. This position will become familiar with system operations dispatch functions and become a viable Associate Electric Grid Controller candidate.

Pay Range: (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Plan, prioritize, and coordinate GP&L and TMPA transmission switching operations with ERCOT and other utilities.

  • Assist with GP&L distribution dispatching and troubleshooting activities.

  • Assist Grid Controllers with real-time operations.

  • Write and coordinate daily switching activities with management, Grid Controllers and field personnel.

  • Be available for after hour or call-out situations as the need arises.

  • Training as available for NERC Certification.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of GP&L and TMPA system operating procedures.

  • Assist with documents and evidentiary files for TRE and ERCOT Compliance audits.

  • Represent Garland at meetings as assigned.

  • Assist with other departmental duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)

  • 4 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications Education/ Experience
  • Associate's Degree in engineering or related field of study

  • 5 years related experience in electric transmission or distribution systems

  • NERC TO or RC certification

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of GP&L T&D and ERCOT system operations

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Basic Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer skills

  • Proficient managerial skills

  • Ability to set operational goals and objectives

  • Knowledge and ability to navigate and understand EMS/SCADA systems

  • Ability to learn and use proprietary software

Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid Class C Texas driver's license
