Job Summary

As a Level 2 - SRE Mobile Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring high availability and performance of core mobility services such as MME, SGW, PGW, AMF, SMF, UPF, PCRF/PCF, HSS/UDM, and VoLTE/VoNR platforms. You will collaborate with senior engineers on upgrades, troubleshooting, and automation initiatives while contributing to the overall scalability and resiliency of the mobile core infrastructure.

You'll contribute to monitoring frameworks, configuration management, and support deployment pipelines across mobile infrastructure, working closely with network, DevOps, and platform teams to uphold SLAs and minimize incidents.

Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain EPC and 5G Core platforms across multiple data centers.
  • Perform configuration, integration, and maintenance of mobile core network elements (MME, SGW, PGW, AMF, SMF, UPF, HSS/UDM, PCRF/PCF, IMS/VoLTE).
  • Provide Tier-2 support for incident resolution, escalations, and service-impacting issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and contribute to post-incident reviews.
  • Support capacity planning, system upgrades, and performance optimization for mobile core nodes.
  • Develop automation scripts (Python, Bash, Ansible) for provisioning, testing, and monitoring tasks.
  • Implement and manage observability solutions (alarms, metrics, logging, tracing) for mobile core services.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (RAN, Transport, IP, Security) to deliver end-to-end mobile services.
  • Ensure compliance with network security and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, playbooks, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in mobile network operations or systems engineering roles.
  • Hands-on experience supporting EPC (4G) and/or 5G Core platforms.
  • Experience troubleshooting signaling protocols and core network interfaces.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of LTE/EPC and 5G Core architecture.
  • Hands-on with interfaces such as S1, S6a, S11, S5/S8, Gx, Gy, N1, N2, N4, N6, N7, N10.
  • Understanding of IMS/VoLTE/VoNR architectures (P-CSCF, I-CSCF, S-CSCF, SBC, TAS). Familiarity with vendors (Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, Cisco, Mavenir, or similar mobile core platforms).
  • Scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Exposure to containerized mobile core solutions (Kubernetes, Docker) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, or vendor-native NMS).
  • Basic understanding of IP networking (BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS).

Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $83,538.00 - $137,241.00 / year.
