Technician II- Quality PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE QUALITY TECHNICIAN:
- Using knowledge of test equipment (hardware & software) in own area, carries out chemical analysis requests from all areas of the Corporation including our customers with moderate supervision.
- Collect and report the data from these analyses.
- Set up, operate, and maintain various pieces of test equipment and make minor routine preventative and corrective repairs as required.
- Prepare samples for chemical analysis and make up solutions used in various analytical procedures.
- Investigate possible modification of prescribed analytical procedures to improve precision and accuracy.
- Train and become proficient on multiple analytical methods.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED FOR THE QUALITY TECHNICIAN:
- High School Diploma
- Three or more years' experience in a laboratory environment.
- Has developed knowledge and skills in own area; may still be acquiring higher level skills. Works with moderate supervision/guidance; accountable for individual results and impact on team.
- Ensures a safe workplace.
- Working knowledge of chemical analyses and testing procedures and knowledge of appropriate test equipment including both hardware and software and LIMS System.
- Improved working knowledge of LIMS system.
- Ideal candidate should have a high-level working knowledge of applicable analytical methods and instrumentation and ability to solve a range of problems by using standard procedures and/or processes. Respond to customer needs and seek guidance on issues when needed. They should have the ability to prioritize and organize their work to meet agreed upon deadlines and work with other to achieve team goals.
- Ability to perform sample preparation, solution preparation and routine chemical analyses as directed by supervision and chemists, organize and prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions, operate a computer workstation and the related hardware and software, work in a production-oriented environment and to work with moderate supervision.
- Refined laboratory skills and instrumental understanding and show a mechanical ability to maintain and repair instruments.
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills, well organized and the ability to prioritize tasks and make appropriate decisions and be willing to work in a fast paced, ever changing work environment.
PREFERRED FOR THE QUALITY TECHNICIAN:
- Associate degree in Chemical Technology
