BASIC PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to do data entry for DHQ Finance Department while ensuring that all policy and procedure guidelines are upheld. Duties also include: General journals, audit preparation, payroll journals and to assist with account reconciliations and review of Accounting Clerk's work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Utilize Accounting Software
  • Audit preparation
  • Utilize Report Software
  • Journal preparation
  • Processing and data entry of Corps Accounts Receivable in a timely manor
  • Processing and data entry of Corps Accounts Payable in a timely manor
  • Processing of check batches in a timely manor
  • Review vouchers for policy and procedures and General Ledger coding
  • Understanding of how the Chart of Accounts works and how to code
  • Special projects as assigned by Assistant Controller
  • Responsible for the most advanced Corps data entry
  • Mentor and review Corps employees
  • Assist training Corps and other staff as needed
  • Assist with quarterly reconciliations
  • Generating Reports
  • Prepare some reconciliation spreadsheets
  • Gifts in Kind / Reach review
  • Vendor Maintenance
  • Aged AP/AR outstanding item analysis
  • Other related duties as assigned.


COMMUNICATIONS



  • Answer the telephone, transfer calls, and take messages.
  • Direct communication with Corps by Phone and Lotus Notes.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS



  • Associates Degree, bachelor's degree or Accounting Certification from an accredited college or trade school. preferred.
  • Two years' experience in the accounting field. With Accounting Degree or Certification, less experience will be considered.
  • Two to four years' experience in an advanced accounting position preferred.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook or email program with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience with Shelby and Vivid software preferred.
  • Must be able to understand, follow and receive English written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to speak, read, comprehend, write and communicate effectively in the English language and in a professional manner.
  • Ability to maintain patience and courtesy in dealing with a wide range of people and their needs.
  • Must be well organized, self-motivated, flexible, and possess good people skills.
  • Ability to address multiple projects in a time sensitive manner is essential.
  • Must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to maintain highest level of security in addressing oral and written communications as well as the filing of correspondence to protect the integrity.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
  • This position is primarily sedentary and requires the ability to remain at a keyboard for periods of up to two hours with minimal interruption. Ability to operate a keyboard is essential.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision.
  • Must be able to use speech and hearing for both ordinary and telephone conversation.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and/or pull objects.
  • Ability to reach overhead.


  • Ability to operate telephone.

    • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to operate a computer.
    • Ability to process written, visual, and/or verbal information.
