About the Role

As a member of the Infrastructure Team, this position will report to the IT Infrastructure Manager. The Senior Cloud Administrator (AWS & Azure) will lead the design, implementation, optimization, and management of cloud infrastructure across both AWS and Azure for Howard Hughes. In addition, this role will be responsible for backup administration and Linux systems administration, with a focus on patching, configuration, and ongoing operational support. This position demands broad technical expertise, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to security, scalability, and continuous improvement in a multi-cloud environment.

This individual will work independently and as part of a team to analyze technical issues, resolve incidents quickly, and collaborate with project managers on assigned initiatives.

What You Will Do

Cloud Architecture & Implementation

  • Architect, deploy, and manage scalable, reliable cloud infrastructure on AWS and Microsoft Azure environments for business applications.

  • Implement infrastructure as a code (IaC), using tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates and Terraform.

  • Configure and manage virtual networks, VMs, Storage accounts, app services, and IAM roles across both platforms.

  • Plan and execute cloud migrations and hybrid cloud deployments.

Administration, Monitoring & Optimization

  • Administer core AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC) and core Azure (Azure VMs, Azure SQL, Blob Storage, Azure App Services) resources.

  • Implement and maintain advanced monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning strategies using tools like AWS CloudWatch and Azure Monitor.

  • Optimize usage, performance, and cost for all cloud resources, and support budgeting and reporting initiatives.

  • Implement automation for routine tasks using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python or Bash.

Linux Systems Administration

  • Perform regular patching, updates, and security hardening across Linux systems.

  • Provide configuration management and optimization to ensure reliable and consistent system performance.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Linux servers, services, and applications.

  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to align Linux configurations with organizational standards.

Backup Administration

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain enterprise backup and recovery systems.

  • Develop and test backup and restore strategies to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery readiness.

  • Implement retention policies and perform regular verification of backups for integrity and recoverability.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve backup failures and performance issues.

Security and Compliance

  • Manage and enforce identity and access management, network security groups and date protection across AWS and Azure.

  • Conduct regular security assessments, compliance audits, vulnerability scanning and support remediation efforts.

  • Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements such as GDPR, SOC 2, etc.

Collaboration, Support & Knowledge Sharing

  • Provide advanced (tier-3) troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex multi-cloud environments.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Network, DevOps, Security, Developers) to integrate solutions and resolve issues.

  • Mentor other IT staff on cloud best practices and support organizational standards.

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive cloud infrastructure documentation and generate regular system performance reports.

Process and Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and refine standard operating procedures for network, change and incident management.

  • Continuously evaluate modern technologies and recommend improvements to cloud infrastructure, security, and deployment pipelines.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or related field.

  • At least 5 years of experience in IT Infrastructure and cloud platform administration, including direct responsibility for AWS and Azure environments.

  • Proven expertise in infrastructure automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Azure CLI).

  • Experience with containerization and orchestration (docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.

  • Deep understanding of network architecture, cloud security, regulatory compliance, and cost management.

  • Cloud and/or Security certification a plus

  • Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud environments and SaaS integrations.

  • Excellent communication and people skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team under high-pressure situations.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • History of achieving zero deficiency audits and implementing effective business processes office operations as it relates to IT.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Work with HHH corporate IT to incorporate any applicable standards across technologies.

  • Good oral and written communications skills.
