Full-Time Office/Project Job Summary
The Electrical Designer is responsible for developing detailed electrical design deliverables using SmartPlant 3D, SmartSketch, and AutoCAD in support of Department of Defense (DoD) Sentinel Program project sites. This role involves producing construction drawings, calculations, and material specifications for electrical systems and equipment. The position requires strong technical skills, collaboration across disciplines, and adherence to all applicable codes, standards, and quality requirements. Job Responsibilities
Work under the direction of senior engineers and designers to develop and deliver high-quality electrical design products
Review and incorporate client and project requirements into electrical design documentation
Model electrical equipment, raceways, and related components in SmartPlant 3D
Extract and annotate 3D model data to generate 2D construction drawings using SmartSketch and AutoCAD
Coordinate design deliverables with multiple disciplines and resolve review comments and feedback
Perform 3D model reviews and resolve interferences with other commodities or disciplines
Ensure all designs comply with applicable electrical codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 70/NEC, ANSI, IEEE, NEMA)
Develop electrical design drawings and details, including:
Grounding systems and equipment
Lightning protection
Equipment arrangement plans
Raceway layouts (conduit, cable tray, duct banks, etc.)
Bills of material and material take-offs
Interior and exterior lighting designs
Cable routing and construction installation details
Participate in constructability reviews and support interdisciplinary coordination
Provide technical assistance to construction teams as needed
Conduct field or site visits as required to support project execution

Required Knowledge and Skills
Experience preparing electrical system drawings for facilities such as nuclear plants, industrial complexes, data centers, or utility plants
Hands-on experience with 3D modeling software (SmartPlant 3D preferred) and drawing generation
Strong collaboration and coordination skills across multiple disciplines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering automation tools
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to identify and resolve design issues independently and within a team environment
Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
Must be able to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
Active security clearance
Prior experience supporting government or defense projects, particularly with the Department of Defense
Project Overview
This position supports the Sentinel Program, a major modernization effort for the ground-based component of the U.S. nuclear deterrent triad, including intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) systems and launch infrastructure. The role focuses on the design and development of new electrical and infrastructure systems during the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. Team members in this role will contribute to high-profile government projects requiring strict compliance with safety, security, and quality standards.
