The Part-Time Work Study Social Media Assistant is responsible forCampusRecreation'ssocial media channel management under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications. The Social Media Assistant is responsible for monitoring Campus Recreations social media calendar and post accurate information about Campus Recreation facilities, events, programs on Campus Recreation social media outlets. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Developing innovative ideas from concept to digitalcontent,which focuses on building engagement to target andbroadaudiences. Monitor, listen and respond tofollowerswithin social media platformsand connect with content experts where needed.Research trends and engagement strategies within social media platforms. Create a consistent tone and voice for social media outlets. Provide feedback to staff on social media best practices.Attend campus recreation events and programs to document through video and photography.Print, distribute and deliver print material as necessary. Actively participate in collaborative work and development. Social Media Assistant acts as an ambassador for Penn State Campus Recreation both at work and away. Respectfully manages disagreements,models positive rapport with patronsand employees, is a decisive decision maker in the absence of professional staff, displays role model appropriate behavior at all times, including in online communities. Maintains regular and frequent communication with supervisory team, can interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations, and promotes Campus Recreation programs and services. Experience (academic or non-academic)with social media,communications,or business operations, strongproblem-solvingskills, ability to positively interact with thepatrons and employees strongly preferred. Work will take place on the University Park Campus and successful candidate must successfully complete a criminal background check and must be able to accommodate a variable work schedule that will include mornings, evenings, weekends, and University breaks. Campus Recreation is a department within Student Affairs that provides fitness, wellness, and recreational programs to the campus community through the operation and administration of the new expanded and renovated 200,000 sf Intramural Building, the McCoy Natatorium, the 700-acre Stone Valley Outdoor Recreation Area, a Tennis Center including six clay courts and four indoor courts, the White Building, Outdoor Adventures, Aquatics, Club Sports, Fitness and Wellness Programs, and Intramural Sports. Students who received a Federal Work Study award have the opportunity to obtain a job and perform related duties either on campus, or remotely, if possible and at the discretion of the employer. A Federal Work Study award does not guarantee a job position is available. The starting hourly rate for this job is $15.50. Federal Work Study job performance is evaluated either annually or through ongoing mentorship.
