Overview

The Head Tennis Professional is responsible for overseeing the operation and performance of the Club's Racket Sports facilities, ensuring an exceptional experience for members, friends and guests. This role is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards set by ownership and executive management while fostering a culture which aligns with the Club's values. The Head Tennis Professional will lead all aspects of court operations, including managing and mentoring assistant professionals, developing engaging programs, tournaments, and maintaining a welcoming, positive environment for all those who visit the club. This position requires a strong commitment to excellence, ensuring all staff uphold the highest standards of courtesy, professionalism, and service. By leading through example, the Head Tennis Professional will create memorable experiences and elevate the overall quality of racquet sports at the Club.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be well groomed and adhere to dress code/uniform and personal appearance standards defined in the associate handbook.
  • Must be friendly and outgoing with a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work alone during certain parts of the day.
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and possible overtime.
  • Must be punctual each workday per their scheduled time.

POSITION EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Racket Sports Program Development & Leadership:

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive, engaging racket sports program for members, including private lessons, group clinics, camps, tournaments round robins, social events and special events.
  • Tailor the racket sports programs to meet the needs and interests of members, ensuring offerings for all skill levels, ages, and abilities.
  • Lead and supervise the coaching staff, ensuring consistency in lesson delivery and maintaining high coaching standards across all activities.
  • Create and manage seasonal racket sports programs, ensuring an evolving and innovative curriculum, which keeps members engaged and excited.

Coaching & Instruction:

  • Provide private and group lessons to club members, offering expert-level instruction, which helps members improve their skills and enjoy the racket sports.
  • Lead competitive junior and adult racket sports clinics, including drill sessions, skill-building exercises, and match play.
  • Prepare and lead racket sports camps for different age groups, such as youth camps, adult weekend intensives, and holiday-themed sessions.
  • Offer individual coaching for players looking to compete at higher levels, including tournament preparation, strategy, and mental training.

Staff Management & Training:

  • Supervise, mentor, and provide ongoing professional development for assistant and associate coaches and other racket sports staff.
  • Ensure staff are up to date with the latest racket sports coaching techniques, equipment, and industry trends.
  • Assist in hiring and training new racket sports professionals to maintain a high standard of instruction at the club.
  • Develop and implement weekly schedules for racket sports professionals, ensuring appropriate coverage for lessons, clinics, and events.

Member Engagement & Experience:

  • Build strong relationships with club members to understand their goals, preferences, and provide personalized recommendations for racket sports activities.
  • Provide expert guidance on racket sports equipment, from rackets, paddles to apparel, offering advice and helping members select the best gear for their playing style.
  • Work with the membership department to engage and retain members through special programs, events, and personalized follow-up.
  • Ensure a welcoming, inclusive environment for all members, fostering a strong sense of community within the racket sports program.

Tournament & Event Coordination:

  • Plan and oversee the organization of club tournaments, leagues, exhibitions, and social racket sports events, ensuring they run smoothly and meet member expectations.
  • Create competitive and recreational racket sports events that appeal to both casual and serious competitive players, promoting participation and camaraderie.
  • Represent the club at local, regional, and national racket sports competitions, ensuring the club's competitive teams are prepared and supported.

Facility Management & Maintenance:

  • Ensure the racket sports courts and related facilities (e.g., locker rooms, pro shop, viewing areas) are clean, well maintained, and in top condition for play.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure the racket sports courts are maintained, and any necessary repairs or updates are promptly made.
  • Assist in the management and ordering of racket sports equipment, ensuring the club supplies are adequately stocked for all programs and services.

Marketing & Promotion:

  • Work with the club's marketing team to promote racket sports programs, lessons, and events through various channels (e.g., website, newsletters, social media).
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase participation in racket sports programs, including targeted campaigns, special offers, and promotions.
  • Collaborate with the club's leadership to align racket sports program offerings with the club's overall mission, branding, and member engagement strategies.

PERFORMANCE FACTORS:

  • Attendance/ Punctuality and Dependability: Depended upon to report to work at the scheduled time, is seldom absent from work, and keeps unplanned absences to a minimum. The Employee follows company policy of reporting/planning absences and going through the correct channels to request time off. Completes work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner, is conscientious about assignments and deadlines.
  • Normal Work Schedule: Flexible to accommodate 5, 9.5-hour workdays or another variation of 47.5 hours per week with extensive overtime during peak business periods, 30 minutes for lunch unpaid.
  • Teamwork and Flexibility: Ability to help and share knowledge or expertise with others. Responds and adapts positively to new ideas, requests, and/or changing situations. Provides meaningful feedback and responds well to constructive criticism.

Compensation

Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 Annually Tipped/Service Charge Eligible? No Discretionary Performance Bonus Eligible? No
