The Job

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing client expenses, invoice reconciliation, and billing processes for government grants. This role also prepares month-end close, maintains journal legers, and ensures that all financial transactions related to grants are accurately recorded, compliant with GAAP and/or government regulations, and aligned with organizational policies. You Will



  • The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing client expenses, invoice reconciliation, and billing processes for government grants.
  • Prepares and reviews billing to State, County, and local agencies by using designated software.
  • Researches and resolves issues with billings, payments, and expenses. Escalates complex issues as needed.
  • Updates and distributes all reports for tracking billing, payments, expenses, and eligibility as required. Streamlines processes as needed.
  • Prepares month end journal entries for posting to the General Ledger by reconciling General Ledger expense accounts, preparing worksheets, submitting worksheets for management approval, and entering in the accounting system as directed.
  • Prepare monthly indirect cost allocation, intercompany reconciliation, assist with annual budget process and forecasting, prepares and researches needed documentation for all audit requested.
  • Maintains inventory for transportation and food vouchers by logging transactions, taking physical inventory on a quarterly basis, and purchasing vouchers, when needed.
  • Updates vendor website for new transportation cards, deactivation and other changes as needed.
  • Support audit request with appropriate documentation and assist with annual budget process and forecasting.
  • Act as a point of contact with government agencies for billing and compliance inquiries. Collaborate with program managers and grant coordinators to ensure accurate tracking and communicating the current and updated changes and requests.

    Your Qualifications



    • Graduate or Advanced Degree or equivalent experience (Preferred)
    • 5+ years of experience in grant or fund accounting.
    • Experience in health care environment and related grant accounting is a plus.
    • Advanced analytical skills
    • Basic problem-solving skills
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills
