This position is part of Novanta's Synrad business unit. Synrad has come to be recognized as a leader in the development of sealed CO2 lasers and electro-optics technologies. Based on our patented "All Metal" tube technology, there are now well over 250,000 Synrad lasers in use throughout the world. Synrad lasers are used in a wide variety of industrial applications, including marking, coding, engraving, cutting, and converting on a wide range of target materials.

This job is responsible for leading team on daily tasks as well as assembles small mechanical/electronic structures to extremely tight tolerances.

  • Under limited supervision using test procedures, drawings schematics and verbal instructions will assemble, adjust, test, sub-assemblies and finished products to manufactures specification paying close attention to quality and workmanship.
  • Reports pass/fail data to the area supervisor and maintain accurate records.
  • Backflushing daily work, record daily goals, lead daily walkthrough
  • Verifies the accuracy of daily build plan reports and communicates discrepancies with the Supervisor or Operation Manager.
  • Provide technical direction and assistance to those within the department.
  • Monitors workflow and material requirements and work closely with other departments leaders to ensure turnaround times are met.
  • Seeks to continuously expand knowledge of all Synrad product lines.
  • Coordinates with master scheduler to ensure customer needs are being met.
  • Elevates issues, updates performance board issues/metrics and problems in a forthright and timely manner to achieve resolution.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Required to fill out and submit Non Conformance Reports (NCR's).
  • Contributes to team effort.
  • Associate degree in Electronics or equivalent practical experience built upon High School level technical subjects.
  • 1-3 years of experience.
  • AS Electronics or equivalent.
  • Positive attitude: willingness to help and receptive to input
  • Attention to quality & workmanship
  • Ability to use practical electronic theory, small hand tools, electronic meters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes.
  • Good mechanical and soldering skills.
  • Familiarity with Windows software.

  • Vision: Near, Far, Depth and color perception.
  • Able to lift to 40 lbs.
  • Sitting and Standing while performing duties.
  • The base pay for this position is $54,605 to $76,450 per year depending on the geographic market.
  • Dependent on the position offered, annual bonuses and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of the compensation package.
