Technical Architect

What You'll Do:

As a Technical Architect you will lead the design and development of a comprehensive multi-tenant integration ecosystem that enables seamless connectivity between Slingshot Aerospace and our partner organizations. You will architect scalable API solutions, develop robust developer tools, and ensure compliance with government standards while delivering enterprise-grade integration capabilities. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic architectural decision-making to build the foundational platform that powers our partner ecosystem.

Position Responsibilities:



  • Own the overall technical architecture and roadmap for Slingshot's multi-partner integration platform
  • Design and implement scalable API infrastructure that supports diverse integration patterns and data exchange requirements
  • Architect data processing pipelines for high-volume, real-time data exchange between multiple external systems
  • Design system architecture optimized for successful Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and government compliance requirements
  • Enhance and deliver a comprehensive web-based API Developer Hub that provides intuitive tools for API design, documentation, testing, and management at scale
  • Create self-service onboarding workflows that enable third-party developers to efficiently integrate with our platform
  • Build automated API lifecycle management tools including versioning, deprecation, and migration capabilities
  • Implement robust API analytics and monitoring dashboards for both internal teams and external developers
  • Communicate with government stakeholders and implement standardized APIs, data formats, and message exchange protocols per established requirements
  • Ensure all platform components meet NIST 800-53, DoD IL, and FedRAMP compliance requirements
  • Lead ATO preparation activities and coordinate with security teams on accreditation processes
  • Develop methodology and tooling for seamless onboarding of third-party models, simulations, AI tools, and space operations training software
  • Design flexible integration patterns that accommodate diverse partner technical architectures and requirements
  • Architect systems for managing complex multi-tenant configurations and customizations
  • Implement and verify API data pass-through capabilities with robust error handling and data validation
  • Design and build time synchronization systems via pipeline APIs to ensure coordinated operations across partner systems
  • Mentor engineering team members on integration platform best practices and architectural patterns
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with product managers, security teams, and external partner technical teams
  • Participate in customer and partner technical engagements, serving as the primary technical authority for integration discussions
  • Balance rapid feature delivery with long-term platform stability and scalability requirements


Pre-Requisites



  • Must have an active or previously held TS/SCI clearance


Minimum Requirements



  • 7+ years of experience in in software development with focus on enterprise integration and API platforms
  • Served as a Technical Architect, Integration Architect, or equivalent role for 3+ years
  • 4-year degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
  • Extensive experience designing and building RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and event-driven architectures
  • Proven track record with integration platforms, API gateways, and developer portal implementations
  • Deep expertise in cloud-based deployments (AWS) including API Gateway, Lambda, EKS, and related PaaS/IaaS services
  • Advanced knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code solutions (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, EKS)
  • Proficiency in our technology stack: Python, Java/Kotlin, Python, GraphQL, REST
  • Expert-level knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) and GitOps practices
  • Strong background in event-driven architectures including Kafka, CloudEvents, and message queuing systems
  • Database design and optimization experience across multiple platforms (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)
  • Experience integrating AI/ML/LLM capabilities into production API platforms
  • Understanding of API security patterns including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, API keys, and rate limiting


Preferred Skills



  • Possess security compliance accreditation such as NIST 800-53, DoD ILs, FedRAMP in higher-classification cloud or air-gapped environments and have experience supporting organizations to obtain accreditation.
  • Experience with fast-moving software technology startups and product organizations
  • Knowledge of frontend technologies, specifically React, Three.js
  • Demonstrated experience working in, or close collaboration with DevOps team members and infrastructure technology.
  • Familiarity with QA practice and collaboration.
  • Track record of supporting predictable software delivery with Product Team partners
  • Prior Space and Aerospace Industry experience is a bonus but not required
  • Proficient in integrating complex external systems with API's
  • Experience with simulation technologies like HLA/DIS

Travel: Up to 15% for customer engagements and partner integration activities

Compensation:

Classification: Full-time Exempt (computer employee exemption)
