Position summary
As part of a team, the operator performs various tasks related to applying protective coatings to aircraft engine components. The job requires wearing a supplied-air respirator (SAR) and other personal protective equipment (PPE).
Essential duties and responsibilities


  • Coating application: Perform and monitor the thermal application of pack aluminide coatings using equipment such as A12 retort packing and furnaces.
  • Component preparation: Execute preparatory tasks including:

    • Assembly and disassembly
    • Grit blasting
    • Vibratory tumbling
    • Blending
    • Masking


  • Quality assurance:

    • Confirm the quality of finished work according to blueprints, drawings, and customer specifications.
    • Use inspection tools to verify coating application and adherence.
    • Prepare necessary quality documents.


  • Equipment maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines and assist with general labor work.
  • Safety and procedure compliance:

    • Follow all plant safety rules and environmental health and safety (EHS) policies.
    • Adhere to 5S / CPEX policies and support continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Communicate with team members, engineering, and management to resolve production issues.




Qualifications and requirements


  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in a production manufacturing environment is often required.
  • Technical skills:

    • Ability to read and follow work instructions, blueprints, and customer specifications.
    • Strong shop mathematics skills, including decimals and fractions.
    • Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.


  • Physical demands:

    • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally carry up to 50 pounds.
    • Manual dexterity for assembling and using tools.
    • Ability to climb stairs and stand for long periods.
    • Good vision, including color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.


  • Work environment:

    • The work environment includes exposure to extreme heat, fumes, airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts.
    • Requires wearing a respirator and other PPE.
    • May require working in humid or wet conditions and moderate noise levels.
