What does a HR Compliance Manager do at Swire Coca-Cola? Lead and manage HR-related compliance initiatives across our operations in 13 states. Ensuring our HR practices comply with federal, state and local employment laws, regulations and internal policies. You will evaluate, recommend and implement improvements to current processes, create or update policies and procedures and conduct audits of processes and records to ensure current and ongoing compliance. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in multi-state compliance, risk mitigation, and policy governance in a large, complex organization.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across 13 states, ensuring timely updates to HR policies and practices
- Develop, implement, and maintain proactive HR compliance programs, including audits, and reporting mechanisms
- Serve as a primary point of contact for HR-related compliance matters, including wage and hour laws, EEO, State Leaves and other regulatory requirements
- Under the advisement of in-house legal, implement new policies and processes that are in compliance with new local, state, or federal legal requirements
- Lead internal audits and risk assessments to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions
- Partner with in-house legal to implement improvements to policies, processes, and adopt best practices in support of our proactive legal compliance strategy
- Manage compliance-related training initiatives for both managers and employees
- Partner with organizational leader and in-house legal to investigate and resolve compliance issues
- Maintain and update the Employee Policy Guide and HR policy library in coordination with legal requirements and company values
- Support the implementation of HR systems and processes that ensure compliance and data integrity
- Lead/participate in company wide committees to ensure compliance with drug testing, background checks and other HR related programs
- Track and report on compliance metrics and trends to senior leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (Human Resources, Business, Legal Studies or related field) or equivalent experience required, Master's Degree preferred
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred
- 6+ years experience interpreting and applying federal, state, and local employment laws in a multi-state environment (e.g., wage and hour laws, leave laws, anti-discrimination statutes). required
- 4+ years experience administering and/or auditing FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO and State Specific rules, regulations and laws. required
- 6+ years experience working with Legal, Payroll, Benefits, and Operations teams to ensure compliance alignment. required
- 2+ years experience leading and conducting internal audits required
- 4+ years Familiarity with managing compliance for distributed workforce across different states, including leave, labor laws, and benefits administration. required
- 4+ years experience in building and maintaining programs across multiple areas of compliance required
- 2+ years experience navigating differences in state-mandated benefits (e.g., paid family leave in CA vs. unpaid in other states). required
- 4+ years experience in a large, matrixed organization required
- Process driven, highly organized and detail oriented
- Proven ability to draft, implement, and update HR policies that comply with varying state and federal laws
- Experience creating scalable compliance processes that can be adapted across multiple jurisdictions
- Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, EEO, and state-specific regulations
- Ability to manage sensitive issues with discretion and sound judgment.
- Proficiency in HRIS and compliance tracking systems
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- In-depth knowledge of I9, background check and drug testing compliance
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to partner with leadership to convey complex information in a way that supports informed decision-making
