Responsibilities

Job SummaryThe Coordinator-Cardiovascular assists with the coordination and overall management of specific services assigned by cardiovascular leadership. These services may include actively interfacing with physician(s) to provide customer service at the point of care; assess, plan and evaluate material, staff and patient specific care to coordinate activities of the specialty(s). Plan, direct and coordinate all aspects related to management of equipment, supplies, and management of preference cards within assigned service line/s in the Operating Room (OR). Will be a contact for the service line(s) and a liaison with physicians, leadership team, scheduling department, and department staff. Provide care to the patients functioning within the scope of practice. Incumbent may be required to make staff assignments; schedule cases perform new staff orientations. Function as a role model, demonstrating clinical expertise in providing direct support to department staff. Practices effective communication methods with the Clinical Educator, leadership, co-workers, families, and customers. Serves as a policy and practice resource within the assigned unit. Implements in-service programs for clinical staff developed by others. Maintains flexibility in scheduling hours to meet clinical needs of all shifts.Specifically for Echo Department and under the direction of the supervisor, the Lead sonographer/Cardiovascular coordinator performs high quality cardiac ultrasound procedures that require ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgement. Ensures clinical staff are following department policies, procedures and protocol to provide quality patient care as well as adhering to established safety standards. Performs a variety of tasks, by providing technical expertise to maintain, enhance and advance the departmental standards. Maintains confidentiality in all related activities. Attends required meetings and maintained continuing education. Cultivates a collaborative and cooperative work environment within the organization to exceed patient expectations. Acts as a preceptor by onboarding cardiac sonographers and student externs with departmental orientation and use of equipment in a clinical setting. Will oversee all functions of the echo department included but not limited to staff scheduling, accreditation renewals and training. Works directly with the director of noninvasive cardio diagnostics to ensure all studies are being completed with the recommended standards. Essential Functions
  • Establishes measurable specialty goals and objectives, assists in capital budget preparation, plans for staffing with Director/supervisor, and plans for special patient needs related to equipment.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency, prioritization and problem- solving skills.
  • Coordinates patient care activities and physician's specific requests; coordinates available resources and utilizes effective delegation skills.
  • Maintains unit and other regulatory educational requirements.
  • Participates in continuing education, quality of improvement activities, and supports membership in professional organizations.
  • Implements staff development programs along with Clinical Educator and is responsible for orientation of new personnel, student, and others to the specific specialty
  • Participates in the planning, orienting, teaching, guiding, and evaluating the performance of staff and students.
  • Serves as a resource to others including physicians, patients, families, caregivers, and visitors.
  • Assists, consults, and serves as a resource to the health care team.
  • May be dedicated to performing orientations.
  • Assists in identifying orientation needs of new and existing employees.
  • Tracks education requirements ensuring regulatory needs are met.
  • Assists in the development of orientation schedules for new employees.
  • Facilitates interdepartmental in-services to meet regulatory needs of staff members.
  • Formulates departmental orientation and communication tools and participates in process improvement mechanisms.
  • Assists in providing orientation activities to meet the needs of the new employee.
  • Assists in the provision of training programs, developed by others (including Clinical Educators) for assigned staff.
  • Promotes quality of patient care by practicing and promoting existing policies using effective communication, cooperation, and teamwork. Assists in the clinical development of staff specialty skills.
  • Promotes staff talent by encouraging their involvement in clinical professional activities.
  • Assists in the monitoring and documenting of the new employee orientation progress.
  • Monitors regulatory lists to ensure staff compliance and maintains current documentation.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills when interacting with co-workers, physicians, and family members.
  • Maintains current knowledge of HonorHealth standards, patient care technology and agency regulations.
  • Maintains flexibility in scheduling hours to meet clinical needs.
  • Maintains certification requirements.
Education
  • Associate's degree from accredited institution - Required
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution - Required
Experience
  • 5 years Radiologic Technologist or Sonographer - Required
  • 2 years Lead tech - Preferred
License/Certification
  • National Registry in (1) Imaging Modality - ARRT(R), ARRT(CT), ARRT(CI), ARRT(MR), ARRT(N), ARRT(S), ARRT (VI), NMTCB, ARMRIT, ARDMS or RVT - Upon Hire - Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Upon hire - Required
