Currently recruiting a Phlebotomist to work at Malcom Grow Medical Center, Joint Base Andrews, MD. The Phlebotomist provides care for our nations active duty service members, their families, and retirees. The Phlebotomist is a full-time position, 80 hours per two weeks., Full benefits, including 17 days paid vacation/sick leave and 10 paid Federal holidays.
DUTIES OF THE PHLEBOTOMIST:
- The contracted Certified Phlebotomist will provide the following services and in strict compliance with standing orders and protocols set forth by the MTF, and IAW JC guidelines to include:
- Properly identifying and label specimens.
- Maintaining sanitary standards to prevent the transmission of disease.
- Selecting and implementing the proper, age-appropriate collection techniques.
- Ensuring that samples are properly prepared for laboratory analysis.
- Sending specimens to the correct testing locations.
- Updating patient records.
- OTHER TASKS AND RESPONSIBLITIES THE CONTRACT EMPLOYEE SHALL PERFORM BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Ensure compliance with standard of care and practice in accordance with all established policies, procedures, and guidelines used in the medical treatment MTF and IAW JC guidelines. Provides care within ethical and legal boundaries.
- Complete orientation and competency verification programs in accordance with unit guidelines.
- When assigned, will serve, and participate in committees, functions, and other meetings. Provide relevant and timely information and assists with decision- making and process improvement.
- Will report to the Director of Laboratory Services, or Director of the ASBBC for assigned to mobile blood drives. As required, participate in customer service initiatives and medical readiness activities, designed to enhance health services.
- Physically helping with the setup and breakdown of mobile blood drives equipment and supplies, able to move/ lift a modest amount of weight (40 lbs.)
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PHLEBOTOMIST:
- Degree/Education: Graduation from an accredited training program resulting in certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), Health and Human Services or American Medical Certification.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Licensure/Registration: See Exhibit 5
- Board Certification: See Exhibit 5
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience
- U.S. Citizen (required for access to Government computer systems)
