Job Title: Data Center Critical Environment Team Lead
Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States Position Overview We are seeking a Critical Environment Team Lead to manage the daily operations and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure within a data center. This role is essential to ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of systems such as power, cooling, and environmental controls. The successful candidate will lead a team of technicians, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and uphold the highest standards of operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Supervision * Lead and mentor a team of critical environment technicians. * Develop and manage shift schedules to ensure 24/7 coverage. * Enforce compliance with safety protocols, training standards, and operational procedures. Operations & Maintenance * Oversee the monitoring and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems. * Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs. * Minimize disruptions during system changes or outages. Client & Vendor Coordination * Serve as the primary contact for vendors and contractors. * Ensure third-party work meets quality and safety standards. Infrastructure Planning & Support * Assist with server installations, upgrades, and infrastructure changes. * Support disaster recovery testing and emergency preparedness. Reporting & Documentation * Maintain accurate records of system performance, incidents, and maintenance activities. * Provide timely updates and reports to management and stakeholders. Qualifications Required * High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. * 5+ years of experience in technical fields (e.g., electrical, controls, automotive, data center). * Experience with electrical systems in high-availability environments (e.g., data centers, hospitals, manufacturing). * OSHA or OSHA-approved NFPA 70E Certification. * Ability to work flexible schedules, including 12-hour shifts and rotating work weeks. * Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). Preferred * EPA Refrigerant License. * Experience with Building Management Systems (EPMS). * Familiarity with Method of Procedure (MOP) for chiller, chilled water pump, and CRAH systems at "N" redundancy level. Top Skills * 3+ years of experience managing critical infrastructure in a commercial data center. * Proven ability to lead teams in monitoring and maintaining mechanical infrastructure. * Refrigerant license. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
